Camp was a busy place this weekend! Forty-five young people from five different youth groups came up to learn, play and worship together.
We also hosted Circle of Song, a day-long gathering of church choirs. The choirs learned new pieces together and performed for each other. It was lovely to hear our beloved camp songs performed with such expertise!

The students of Flamborough Centre have done some pretty cool stuff during their stay at camp! They've managed to cram all the fun of camp into three short days. On top of all our progamme areas, they tried the throwing blanket, dressed up for dinner theatre and performed at campfire.
See you next year!

Our second school of the season is here! The grade 8 students of Flamborough Centre School have arrived, and they've been busy all afternoon with the zipline and the climbing wall, as well as canoeing, kayaking, dance and orienteering. As I'm typing this, they're on a camp-wide mission with Indiana Jones, and judging from the dance sessions with Refleckta, I expect great things at campfire.
More pictures to come!

Hi Everyone,
Here is the Outdoor Ed. Staff Dance for 2006. Matchy put the dance together, Roo posted it to youtube, Turbo unknowingly did the commentary.
Enjoy!

We are taking a look a solar cooker or two for each of the Glen Mhor and Iona programmes for this summer. There are tons of excellent options (including plans to make them yourself) from $50 to $400.
There is even a Canadian company from somewhere close (519 area code): http://www.solarsizzler.com/index.html

Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit Balaclava School in Freelton (near Hamilton). Their Grade 8s are coming to visit us at the Glen Mhor Outdoor Centre this Spring.
The
visit was great. I had an opportunity to show a quick slide show about
Cairn and the Outdoor Centre and then I was able to answer questions
ranging from "what are the meals like?" (from a parent) to "so, will the night
patrol people be awake ALL night?" (from a student). Ah, Grade 8s...gotta
love them.
Thanks to the parents and staff from Balaclava for inviting me to visit. It was fun!

Yesterday we bid a sad farewell to Flamborough Centre School. Their Grade 8s were here with us for three days and we had a blast. The Weather cooperated not an inch, yet the week was great. Flamborough has been visiting the Outdoor Centre for many years and we look forward to spending time with future classes. A special thank you to the boys in Otter Slide, who were a fantastic audience for stories on both nights.
And shortly after the Flamborough bus pulled out of the driveway, the bus from Pine Grove School arrived. Pine Grove is another returning school who have brought us their grade 6s. In the rain yesterday afternoon some of the activities were changed, but the laughter seemed to indicate that fun was had. The theme for Pine Grove's stay is "Wild, Wild West" and cowboy hats are being spotted throughout the Courtyard.
Thank you to both Schools for coming to visit us this Spring. We love having you here.
