Our co-directors, Adam "Taps" Brown and Chantal "Match" Jackson received their 10 year paddles at the end of our staff training. The paddles represent their 10 years of camping experience, and were made by Taps and Match for each other.
Four of our counselors were also presented with 10 year paddles this
summer. Kate "Mauri" Hughes, David "Caber" Bannerman, Avery "Kaylo"
Ross and Brad "Wickett" MacDonald have been involved with Cairn as
campers or staff for a decade each. That's 40 years of combined
camping experience!

Camp was a busy place this weekend! Forty-five young people from five different youth groups came up to learn, play and worship together.
We also hosted Circle of Song, a day-long gathering of church choirs. The choirs learned new pieces together and performed for each other. It was lovely to hear our beloved camp songs performed with such expertise!

We are once again able to answer your calls! Our phone line is back up - thanks to a resourceful repair man from Bell Canada.
Thank you for your patience while we were waiting for service to be restored. Feel free to phone the camp office if you need anything!

The power is back on!
Ontario Hydro did a nice job restringing some lines for us, and we have our full electrical grid back up and running.
The phones are still damaged though, so we're unable to answer if you call. Please either leave us a message (which we'll return), or send an e-mail to the camp office.

We're in the middle of busy times here at camp. We have the Jr. High Retreat with us all weekend, and Circle of Song is just joining us to share some music today. They are arriving as I type this, and I can see some big smiles from across the Courtyard.
There was a very big storm last night at camp, and we're still without electricity. Thankfully, there's not very much at camp that requires electricity - so it's business as usual for our Jr. High Campers (some of whom will get to ride the zipline this morning). Our generators provide power to the kitchen fridges and freezers, as well as the plumbing system. So everyone can still use flush toilets, and the kitchen is still cranking out warm, delicious food.
If you're trying to call camp today, you will have trouble getting through. We can't answer the phones when the power is out. However, please leave us a message and we'll return your call via cell phone.
I'll post a website update when the power is turned back on, but I'm off to enjoy a day outside!
Have a good weekend everyone!

The students of Flamborough Centre have done some pretty cool stuff during their stay at camp! They've managed to cram all the fun of camp into three short days. On top of all our progamme areas, they tried the throwing blanket, dressed up for dinner theatre and performed at campfire.
See you next year!
